Apple is doing a great PR job keeping it quiet and sales are booming. However, if you are seriously thinking of buying the MacBook Pro, I would personally think twice about it. I am going to tell you about my saga with Apple Care, Customer Relations and Three MacBook Pro's. I will also bring up issues that many of my personal friends have had with the MacBook Pro.

In February 2006, when Steve Jobs introduced the MacBook Pro I was flabergasted. Granted the price was high, but I was due for a new notebook and I splurged. First, I am going to give a break down of the the issues I have had with the three replacements, then I will introduce to you the not so gracious Apple Customer Relations who can careless that I have spent just under $20,000 (USD) this year on my personal Apple hardware, and since I work as a consultant developing EMR ( Electronic Medical Software ) I have also setup man Doctors offices with All Apple based solutions. Now, my loyalty was rewared with a $100.00 coupon towards future Apple purchases. This is to satisfy my 6 months of issues with the MacBook Pro, mind you are still not fixed right now.

February - MacBook Pro #1
=================
ISSUES:

1. Super hot underneat, putting on lap was out of the question
2. Whiny sound

SOLUTION: REPLACED BY APPLE

April - MacBook Pro #2
=================
ISSUES:

1. Keyboard was squeaky and dysfunctional
2. Whiny sound ( the open photobooth to fix issue )
3. Sound Problems

SOLUTION: REPLACED BY APPLE

May - MacBook Pro #3
=================
ISSUES:

1. Function Key on keyboard bent, eventually popped off and broke.
2. Still Whiny ( very annoying when using the machine for extended time )
3: Random shutdown
4: Sound intermittent
5: Adapter died
6: Battery discolored

SOLUTION: PENDING

I have not replaced this machine as of yet, but I am waiting on Apple to get back to me about some compensation for the six months of problems I have had. Now, I have been very patient with Apple on this matter, but I have this feeling they are not going to get back to me, and I am going to have to call them again. When you buy anything for $2000+ dollars and it has been replaced twice and the third replacement is still unacceptable, don't you feel you should be compensated? Like I said, Apple offered me $100 coupon for future Apple purchases. I declined and told them that I would never purchase another product from Apple as long as I live.

So you guys reading this know, I have 4 other Apple PPC boxes at my house including 3 cinema displays. I have never once called Customer Relations on these machines, and have been very happy with them. On principle alone, I have requested that Apple gives me a full refund and a working machine. I don't expect Apple to do this, but I felt since they were so ridiculous in offering me a $100 coupon for future purchases, I felt like being completely absurd.

Seriously, I am interested in know what you guys think I deserve. What would you want do?

Now I am not the only one who has had these problems with MacBook Pro's. I have friends and all of them, yes I said all of them have sent thier machines back. Even one of my friends have sent thiers back twice. I have yet to talk to one person that has not had problems with their MacBook Pro.

Apple has done a great job keeping the MacBook Pro issues *hushed. I happen to work at a media company, and was thinking of going to talk to one of the writers and see if they were interested in my story. I have not yet, because Apple still has a few days to do righteous by me. I am not a vendictive person, I just want some decency here.

I have all so been pondering starting a "Class Action Law Suit". from what I have read about Class Actions, it is very possible that I can file.

I will be continuing the rest of the post on Monday, that is the deadline I am giving Apple.
